It only took an hour after setup for the female to enter for the first time. This is from day 1 and shows how the nest is formed.

After 11 days of nest building the first egg was laid. 4 days later the fifth and final egg was laid. Here the female enters to incubate.

This shows a visit from the male bird as the female is off of the nest momentarily. The male never sits on the nest, however.

Here you can see the male bring food to the female while she sits on the nest.

27 days since the female first entered the house and 17 days since the first egg was laid, the first one hatched. Here the female disposes of the shell by eating it.

The first feeding of the first baby bird. It can't really keep its head up yet.

Feeding all five babies. They just flop over each other but manage to get their heads up when the mom enters with food.

The Bluebirds are 15 days old now and are starting to spread their wings. Fledging should occur any day. The white spots seen in the nest are fecal sacs, you can see the mom remove one.

The babies are 18 days old now and are starting to poke their heads out of the enterance hole. The nest is barely big enough for them, especially when the mom enters.

At 19 days of age all 5 babies leave the birdhouse. They fledge within hours of each other. They will continue to be fed by their parents for a few weeks outside of the birdhouse.

Minutes after leaving the nest a baby Bluebird is photographed.
